Printing and Saving Your Profile |
|
Printing
Printing a web page can be done directly from the browser simply by clicking on the browser window that's displaying the page, and then clicking the print command or button at the top of the browser. Even though we reduced the font size, your Effectiveness Profile printout may still be wider than a standard page. To get it all onto the page, you may need to set your printer's Orientation feature to "Landscape". This will print the profile "sideways" on the page. NOTE: if you do not print your profile, your results will not be saved unless you intentionally save them as described in the following section, or email them to us using the option given below in the section, How to get an In-Depth Analysis. Saving There are two ways to preserve your profile. The first is to save it as a web page to the hard drive on your computer. The usual way to save a web page to your hard drive is to click on a non-link location in the page somewhere within the part you want to keep. (This will select that part if the page was built using frames. In a frames page you must make sure the part you want is "active" by clicking on it.) The Profile section of our site does not use frames, so if you can see the page you want to print and you click on a non-link area within it, it is automatically active. Then go up to your browser's File Menu and select Save As... Or whatever similar option your browser offers. Once you've selected a Save option you'll see a standard file dialog box asking you to select the directory for the file and to confirm the filename. Choose whatever directory you like; Windows computers have a My Documents directory for starters, but your dialog box will more likely be set to the last directory you did file-business with. IMPORTANT: you must change the name of the file, for two reasons. The best reason is that you might want to save another Profile later; if you don't rename them, they'll both have the same names, and the second will "overwrite" the first, losing the first. The second reason is that if you don't change the ".php" part of the name to ".htm", your browser won't list it under a normal contents listing. The browser may still be able to display the file, but you'll have to use extra steps to find it later. Besides, the file name doesn't really make sense outside of our web server! So, it's best to completely rename the file. We suggest using the word 'profile', a number for which saved profile this is, your initials, and an '.htm' extension to make sure it shows up in your browser's file dialog boxes. Supposing your name is My Initials, your filename might look like this: profile_1_mi.htm --cool, Yes?! Note that web documents are case-sensitive, so if you capitalize here, you'll have to capitalize later if you type in the filename. Note that it is a good idea to save this instruction page as well, in the same directory. Then when you're looking at your profile off-line later, the link it provides to this page will work and give you access to reviewing this information. The other way to preserve your profile is to email your results to us in preparation for an analysis, using the button provided for that purpose at the bottom of your profile. That method is discussed below in the section, How to get an In-Depth Analysis. Yet, even if you choose to send us your results, you should use the first method to save your profile at your end, so you'll have your own copy should you need it.
